Our in-house design team at 405 Ads recently took on the challenge of delivering a full website redesign for our client CounselingPsychology.org. Our design team was tasked with creating a modern and functional design that the client would use to program a new and improved WordPress website that would be both engaging to visitors as well as optimized for search engine visibility. We used our expertise in design to create a sleek new look that reflected the values of CounselingPsychology.org while also providing an intuitive user experience on any device or browser. We delivered functional prototypes of the mobile and desktop page designs with developer spec sheets for our client’s development team.

Our client wanted to trim old content and streamline the user experience to deliver the best information in a timely manner to users. Part of our mandate was to discover new formats and information groupings that repurposed old content and paired down where it made the most sense. Overall, design was an integral part of the website design process and our design team worked diligently to make sure that CounselingPsychology.org was proud of their new site design.

Working with content heavy websites requires a different thought process. You need to be able to create design templates and sections that allow mass updating and uploading of content to be easy. Creating sub-page design templates that easily allow for auto-uploading content from large databases. Form and function are pivotal to the design working well for the client and meeting their needs.

We worked closely with the client throughout the course of this project to fine-tune the design to exact specifications and build original content interfaces that work with the processes that their editorial and content publishing departments follow. Content publishing processes directed a large degree of our decisions in the design stage because we were building templates that would seamlessly integrate to the content teams practices. This helped the team get on board with the new design and see the benefits derived from the design overhaul, this feeling of ownership in the new design helped us create designs that will work the best for the company and users because we got feedback from every level to make new features and sections tailor-made to the site based on how they are used and how people interact with the site.

Organic traffic being a vital source of users for this website we had to build a design that would not only allow for content databases transfer to the new design but actually enhance the value of the existing content by reorganizing and adding or subtracting in pivotal sections to create a wonderful user experience and enhanced speed. We focused a lot of energy on organization of content in the design so that each page and section will stand out to search engines as a highly valuable destination for searchers. Our redesign for the site effectively future-proofs the website for our client for years to come.

In the deliverables we also provided a full developer spec sheet that was overlaid on the prototypes so that the developer could follow the design and specs at the same time without switching references. This helps save our client time on programming the new site and helps ensure that the live website comes out exactly as the design shows. Generally our office handles both the design and development for new or redesign sites, but this client contacted us for design services and has worked with us on more than one website design project after our initial collaboration.

Design mobile responsive design mockup prototypes and desktop prototypes

Developing mockup prototypes for mobile and desktop is an essential part of the design process. Mobile-responsive designs require additional considerations such as layout, navigation and touch interactions. Designing a website that captures the essence of Pretty Old Clothing’s unique style – that was the challenge presented to us in this project. We set out to create an engaging ecommerce experience by developing and building a Shopify site with original images and uniform templates for a large product portfolio. One of the most important aspects to this design project was the need to create uniformity within an online offering of hundreds of different and ever-changing products. The website sells vintage clothing and inasmuch the products the company carries are usually one-off products that range in size, color, style and many more aspects. So we built a custom Photoshop template for Pretty Old Clothing so that all product images can be edited into a uniform display.

Displaying the products in a uniform manner helped to build trust with consumers and helped create and perpetuate a brand identity of quality curation and care. The design for this project was built off of a popular Shopify theme, our office completed the backend and frontend setup of this site and associated accounts.

405 Ads took on the project of redesigning a home services company’s website that comes with a lot of character and social influence. Our goal was to create a strong visual identity for the content-heavy website that would drive organic and paid leads. We achieved this by designing helpful landing pages and easy-to-use contact features, as well as providing a website with plenty of personality.
